Position: Plant Operator Trainee
Pay Range: $43,500-$55,000
The Island Water Association is seeking a hard-working, dependable, and safety-minded person to join our team as a Water Operator Trainee. This is an entry-level position for individuals interested in learning and developing skills in operating and maintaining equipment related to water treatment facilities. The position requires rotating shifts, including overnight and weekend schedules.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the operation and maintenance of equipment used in water treatment and wastewater treatment processes.
Learn to monitor and adjust process variables using distributed control systems.
Support equipment repair and maintenance tasks under supervision.
Participate in routine inspections of plant machinery.
Assist in analyzing data related to plant operations.
Perform accurate laboratory testing and recording of data.
Learn basic math calculations relevant to process operations.
Skills:
Ability to maintain equipment and perform basic repairs.
Mechanical knowledge to understand machinery functions.
Familiarity with logic controllers and distributed control systems is a plus.
Interest in water treatment processes, tanker operations, and wastewater treatment.
Capacity to analyze data and make informed decisions based on findings.
Proficiency in basic math skills for process calculations.
Requirements:
Florida Driver’s License.
High school diploma, or equivalent.
Pre-employment physical, background check, and drug screen.
Achieve State of Florida Class C Drinking Water License within 36 months of hire.
Compensation and Benefits:
$43,500 - $55,000 – starting wage based on qualifications.
